MATARIKI

We have been learning about Matariki.
On Wednesday 6th July we are performing at our Matariki Concert. This concert is at 9 am and will involve all the Junior School classes.
Rooms 1 and 3 are performing together, our item is KAPO KAPO JUMP JAM. Please let your child wear a dark coloured t-shirt on that day --- preferably dark blue, dark green or black.
We have been writing about Matariki, here are some of our stories.

Kapo Kapo Jump Jam - Matariki

We have learning this Matariki Jump Jam routine, and we are trying really hard to master some of the tricky moves!

Tautoko Waiata

Whaea Heneriata has been teaching us a waiata that praises others.

Taputapu rawa kee (x2) Terrific!

Ka mau te wehi! Awesome!

He toki koe! You are as sharp as an axe!

Kei runga noa atu koutou! You guys are really up there!

Parahutihuti ana te haere! You are going at top speed!

Ki wiiwii, ki waawaa! In this direction and that!

Anei raa eetahi kiiwaha. Here are some sayings.

Hei whakanui i te tangata. To celebrate / uplift the person.

Whakamaua kia ita. Hold fast to these.

Taputapu rawa kee!

We Are Learning To notice when things change.

Our learning this term is focused on "CHANGE".
The Room 1 children have been talking about how we need to wear warmer clothes seeing it is now Autumn/Ngahuru and is getting colder.
We have been taking great interest in the way the leaves on some trees change colour and fall to the ground. Our new words are DECIDUOUS and EVERGREEN.

We have been walking and playing in the Autumn leaves, collecting leaves and writing about our experience.

Picking up leaves and throwing them was great fun.

Some us liked hiding in the leaves.

PIKELETS MORNING - Thursday 14 April, 2016.

On Thursday 14th April the Room 1 children (and some Room 7 visitors) made pikelets. This was linked to our Oral Language Programme. We had previously sent invitations to whanau to come and share our pikelets and stay for a talk/discussion about Oral Language with Alison Lindup (RTLB).
Thank you to those of you who came to Room 1 for pikelets.
The children wrote about the Pikelets ..................
